10 SONGS… (VOL.6) BY SADAF MALYAR
“10 songs for the pungent smell of autumn"
Sadaf Malyar is a Dutch/Afghan artist, cook, baker, writer, and mushroom enthusiast.
During her journalism studies, Sadaf found solace within the universally celebrated warmth and magnetism of kitchen spaces. Alongside the written word, food evolved seamlessly from medium to message.
Eagerly exploring the roots and origins of dishes and their ingredients, she was able to learn, develop, and master (trust us, we know) an array of techniques and approaches to recipes from far-reaching cultures. However, the mother dough of her cooking and baking has firm roots in Afghanistan.
The offspring of refugees who fled military conflict, Sadaf founded ‘Flatbread Society’, a food festival with the intent of raising funds to support communities in war-torn areas.
As of late, her hands are full kneading her new project, ‘Noshi jon’ — Persian for ‘bon appetit’ — which consists of organising small gatherings, events, and workshops.
As Fall approaches, we thought it timely to invite our fungi lover to cook us a playlist!
