10 SONGS… (VOL.5) BY KATHE KACZMARZYK
“10 songs for podding peas"
Kathe is the co-founder of Amiralsgatans Speceributik, a charming, minimal waste grocery shop in the heart of Malmö, Sweden.
At the age of 20, after losing her mother, Kathe joined a community farm in Baltimore.
“My mother was the seed that brought me to that farm, that then opened up my eyes to something bigger than myself, something that has grown and blossomed with me since. I learnt that food affects far more than just ourselves, so from that moment on, food was everything.”
The shop is a culmination of Kathe's diverse and far-reaching experiences with food. She’s been a farmer, a baker, a cheesemonger, a cultured butter maker, and a seller at several farmer’s markets.
Kathe and her partner Jesper, treasure and highlight the importance of close relationships with local farmers. Supporting them, provides the pair with invaluable informal education on the process and provenance of the produce they make available to their customers.
We're self-professed devotees of this manner of conscious consumption, which Kathe and Jesper seem to execute so well. Go say hello when and if you're in Malmö!
