Marijke and Mayken are the lovely duo behind ‘Wilder’. 

With mind and thumbs immersed in floristry for years, Spring of 2019 saw the welcome arrival of their brick-and-mortar, just around the corner from my parents’ place in Antwerp. 

Firstcomers to a flourishing neighborhood, Wilder brought a distinctive take to what a flower shop can be.

Determined to avoid flowers flown in from distant countries, grown in high-energy-consuming greenhouses, or drenched in chemicals, they’ve chosen to collaborate with local farmers, offering strong and unique stems, free from chemicals, dyes, and pesticides. 

Attuned to the rhythm of the seasons, their flower selection is exquisite in color and form. Fresh flowers abound from April till October, while from November through March, their drying station — an attraction to passersby —  brings us their meticulously prepared dried bouquets. Wilder’s storefront is also a shifting stage for their own, as well as other invitees’ temporary installations. 

Besides sourcing, preparing, crafting, and arranging flowers for various clients and projects, they offer a carefully selected range of goods — some made by, or in collaboration with, like minded peers, and some first-come-first-served secondhand finds.
