Griffin Wilson, aka @cabincorn, was rolling out pasta dough and stuffing his own sausages before he was legally allowed to drive.
After attending culinary school, he found himself amidst the bustle and heat of a number of commercial kitchens around the world, including Italy, Central America, Hawaii, and a macrobiotic farm-to-table restaurant in Belgium, to name a few places of further learning, practice, and development.
For the past few years, Griffin has fully removed himself from the restaurant scene, finding solace in the quiet comfort of his own kitchen, in a Sonoma County cabin in Northern California.
Someone wiser once said that cooks do it at home for the love, while chefs do it in public for the money. Griffin may have found a sweet spot, cooking for himself and his loved ones, at small events, and every so often, at larger gatherings.
He prioritizes cooking with produce foraged, caught, and found in the vicinity of his shack, and when asked for a tip for other cooks, he offered, “Use your kitchen as a hermitage to nourish your loved ones. Place your hands on living, fresh ingredients, and always be thankful that you even have a sliver of time to spend in the kitchen.”
His enthralling chiaroscuro prep videos let you tag along like an old friend on a brief visit. The silence of his surroundings is pierced only by the sounds of the occasional chop, mix, whip, grill, sizzle, and other ingenious food prep techniques you didn’t know about.
The moving still-lives will send you down an appetite-whetting binge, significantly increasing your screen time. However, you may offset it by attempting some of his recipes yourself.
